Life as an Esthetician: What I’m Thankful For

Working in the beauty industry for the past 40 years has been one of the most gratifying aspects of my life.

It’s been a pleasure to work with others who are passionate about skin care and beauty, and has been so rewarding to see the positive impact that our industry has on people.

Below I’m sharing things I am thankful for as an esthetician.

Loyal clients

Who are we without our clients? I am so grateful for the love and support I have received over the years.

From the clients I worked with when I owned a skin care center in Manhattan in the 1970’s to the business owners who have carried Repêchage® at their salons and spas since the launch of Repêchage® in 1980, I would not be where I am today without them.

Other beauty professionals

One thing I love about the beauty industry is that we are united.

We work together, inspire, encourage and challenge one another to be the best that we can. I am indebted to the professionals I have met along the way who have wanted to see me, and my businesses, succeed.

Advanced education

I also owe much of my success to advanced education. This is why I am a firm believer that all professionals must take part in continued education, and invest in themselves.

This is also why I continue to teach classes at esthetic tradeshows, online webinars, and academy classes through the year.

I want to give back to the industry by providing estheticians with education so they can continue growing as professionals.

New ingredients, technologies and modalities

I’m thankful we work in an industry that is constantly evolving and improving. For example, technology has allowed us to develop a proprietary extraction process with our exclusive sustainably-harvested Laminaria Digitata Seaweed filtrate.

This property process allows us to retain essential vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, Biotin, Folic Acid, B12, C, E, K, Beta Carotene) trace elements and minerals (Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium, Silver, Strontium, Sulfur, Zinc) amino acids and other beneficial nutrients found in seaweed that we can then deliver in our skin care products.

In addition, when new ingredients, and new modalities emerge, such as our new Vita Cura® Gold Collection and Ionto Massager, this helps us achieve our end goal: to improve our client’s self-confidence and help them achieve beautiful skin.

A rewarding field

I am grateful for the opportunity to help others feel good about themselves.

As I said above, our end goal is to improve our client’s self-confidence and help them achieve beautiful skin.

At the end of the day, this is without a doubt the most rewarding part of being an esthetician and why I truly love what I do.

Nothing is better than seeing a client smile from ear to ear when looking in the mirror and seeing the newfound self-confidence that emerges from your work and time spent with them.

Supportive family

I am lucky enough to work alongside my husband, David. From taking me to night courses to earn my cosmetology license, to folding laundry at all hours of the night when I would bring home eleven bags of sheets from the spa, to always saying “it can be done,” even when I had my doubts, he has, from day one, supported my vision and my career in every way possible.

I am also grateful for the entire Repêchage® “family”—all the hard-working people who work here at our headquarters as well as around the world.  As a business owner and an esthetician, having a team who believes in you and respects what you do, even when it means working long hours or on weekends, is so important and something I am so thankful for every day.
