Tips to Beat the January Slump – Treatments for the New Year
After all the excitement of the holidays, January can be a slow time for salons and spas – but it doesn’t have to be! Your clients are looking at the year past and making changes for a happier, healthier and more beautiful New Year. So get them back in the spa with great detox packages and winter skin care that will have them glowing from head to toe!
Detox – After an eating and partying binge that has lasted from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day, your clients are going to be looking to detox and get back in shape. You don’t have to have an elliptical at your salon or spa to help! All you need is seaweed! Glucuronic acid in seaweed binds with heavy metals to help the body eliminate them. In addition, seaweed is a free radical scavenger. A Thalassotherapy Seaweed Body Treatment is the perfect way to use seaweed as a detox treatment. Simply warm and smooth over the body, then wrap your client in a warm thermal blanket to help relieve stress and invigorate sore, stiff muscles while detoxifying the body and just rinse. If you don’t have a shower at your salon/spa, Repêchage Peppermint Sea Twist Treatment, a refreshing contour, firming body treatment that combines peppermint oil with freshly harvested seaweed, is another way to have your client feeling recharged, rebalanced and re-energized to stick with their New Year exercise or diet routine.

Exfoliate – During the winter months, skin tends to become extremely dry and flaky. So much so that many clients look for facial, body treatments and hand treatments that add moisture to their skin. I recommend a skin smoothing and exfoliating treatment to slough off dead skin cells while hydrating and moisturizing dehydrated skin. Finish the treatment with a massage with hydrating body oil and you have the perfect winter escape. Remind them to use a dry brush at-home before showering for further exfoliation, and use a pH balanced shower gel.
Rejuvenate – To match their new eating and gym habits, your clients are going to want to improve their skincare routine as well. This is a great time to promote a series of rejuvenating, anti-aging professional facials combined with an appropriate home care program to your clients. For all over hydration, recommend a Seaweed Body Cream, and a body contour cream to help target cellulite. Get them in once a month and their skin won’t even remember 2015!
Get creative when promoting these New Year’s treatments and package. Think outside of the box – where does everyone go in January? To the gym! Drop off flyers at local gyms and speak with the owner and try to cross promote. It is the perfect way to provide your clients with a full body, beauty experience. Let’s make 2016 the best year for your business yet.
